Sleep On It
Weekends were made for a reason. Whoever designed a work week realized that the body and mind can just take that much over 5-6 days and both need some much deserved rest and relaxation to get back on track with full gusto beginning the next week, whether you are working for a shop round the corner or oil companies. Working over the weekend or even lining up a long list of social activities to catch up on would prevent this from happening and your performance at work would level out or maybe even dip gradually as your mind is just not as agile as it should be. We now hear of new studies that have proven that catching up an extra hour or two of sleep over the weekend helps rejuvenate the body and mind and powers them up enough to take on another week of hectic physical and mental activity. The idea here is to allow the body to relax and rest and garner all the energy it can. It would help to include a nutritious diet over the weekend, especially if you have lived off doughnuts and coffee over the week. Replenishing the body’s essential nutrients and giving it ample time to process and store what is important would help in the coming week when you would need to draw on all the power you need from your body.
If your idea of relaxation is partying all weekend, it would be wise to rethink. Your mind may be free of work related stress but you are still pushing your body and even your mind on matters that do not concern work. When you sleep it off for a couple of extra hours, the body and mind get their share of sleep too and are revitalized enough to take you through the next couple of days with as much vigor as you would probably need.
